June is Greek Heritage Month, and areas all around Metro Vancouver are getting ready to celebrate.

Greek Day on Broadway is the largest one day Greek festival in Vancouver and the grand finale event of the month-long Greek Heritage Festival.

The festival; which was first held over 40 years ago, is hosted by the Hellenic Canadian Congress of BC. The objective of the celebration is to share Greece’s rich culture and 2500 years of history, with the City of Vancouver.

This year, Greek Day on Broadway will be held on Sunday, June 24th.

The festival takes place on West Broadway — along a five-block stretch which measures almost one kilometre — between the streets of Macdonald and Blenheim.

For this annual event, Broadway closes off to traffic to make room for a world of delicious Greek food and drink, market vendors, entertainment, and live music — offering a laid-back yet lively, Greek atmosphere.

The award-winning festival presents valued community partners the opportunity to exhibit products, promote travel experiences, or showcase their brand to a massive captive consumer audience.

Dance to the Beat of Greece

This year Greek Day on Broadway in partnership with the Showboat Theatre, will also be presenting ‘Dance to the Beat of Greece’, featuring Vancouver’s local Greek folk dance groups from around the Lower Mainland.

This special event will take place on Friday, June 22 between 7 pm – 9 pm at the Kitsilano Showboat at 2300 Cornwall Avenue, Kitsilano Beach, and admission is free.
