A man was taken to hospital in serious condition after being stabbed multiple times at the Taste of the Danforth early Sunday morning, Star News Canada reported.
The man was stabbed multiple times at the Greek Festival early Sunday morning about an hour after the festivities wrapped up, according to Toronto Police.
A large area near Danforth and Carlaw Aves. was taped off for several hours as police from 55 division and forensic investigators investigated the scene.
Paramedics said they transported a man with serious injuries to hospital around 1 a.m.
Howard Lichtman, an event organizer, said the stabbing won’t affect Sunday’s program or festivities and the investigation should be wrapped up by sunrise.
“It’s the safest, friendliest festival around,” he said, “Our motto is family-friendly free-entertainment.”
The Greek-inspired festival is Toronto’s largest outdoor festival and is expected to draw about 1.5 million people over the weekend. It wraps up Sunday at 8 p.m.
