The Greek Canadian, Dimitri Soudas, has been named executive director of the running Conservative Party of Canada. It has been reported that the Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper chose skilled executives to man important posts as the federal parties gear up for the next federal election.
According to the Canadian media, the party’s national council confirmed Soudas’s appointment on Friday night.
Soudas had been a close associate of Stephen Harper since 2002, after Harper became leader of the Canadian Alliance and leader of the Official Opposition.
In 2010, he became director of communications of the party but a year later, in 2011, he resigned to focus on his family. In September, 2011, Soudas was appointed as executive director of communications for the Canadian Olympic Committee.
