Two city councilmen of Greek origin have been selected to fill important positions in the Municipal Authority of Montreal, by the recently elected Mayor Denis Coderre.
Dimitrios Beis, mayor of the Pierrefonds county, was appointed to the city council undertaking the areas of sports, free time/leisure, and national communities. It is the first time that Mr. Beis participates in the executive committee of the Municipality.
Mary Deros, who also comes from the “Greek” area of Park Extension, was appointed as the mayor’s advisor with the right of representation at events and happenings of the city.
The presence of two Greeks in the new form of the Municipality of Montreal is of significant gravity for the Greek community of the city.
