“God Loves Caviar” at the EU Film Festival of Canada

god-loves-caviarThe movie “God Loves Caviar” directed by Yannis Smaragdis will represent Greece in the European Union Film Festival of Canada, which every year presents the best of contemporary cinema produced in 27 countries of European Union, with English subtitles. The 28th EU Film Festival of Canada, which will take place from November 14th to December 4th in three big English-speaking cities of Canada, is organized by the Canadian Film Institute and the agency of EU in Canada.

The film of Yannis Smaragdis will screen on November 22 in Toronto, on November 20 in Ottawa, and on December 4 in Vancouver, giving a taste of the Greek presence in the European festival.

Tom McSorely, the Executive Director of Canadian Film Institute stated yesterday during the presentation of the film festival that: “I always supported the cultural exchanges and the promotion of films between EU and Canada.” He also noted that the Canadian audience has the chance to know the wealth of the European films better, which highlights the uniqueness and the important contribution of the European countries globally.

Marie-Anne Coninsx, the European Union Ambassador in Canada noted, that apart from the recent trade agreement CETA, between Canada and EU, there is the possibility of further strengthening the relations between the European countries and Canada in the field of culture, with the presentation of the wealth of the European cinema and its tradition.  Marie-Anne also said that she will be present at the opening ceremony of the European Union Film Festival.
