Sun-Kissed Flavours Make Their Way From Blog to Cookbook

Peter Minaki

While Toronto’s own Peter Minaki is the latest blogger to transition to the more traditional printed platform, what makes the soon-to-be-launched “Everything Mediterranean” (2nd Edition) cookbook even more of an achievement, is the fact that the author’s suitors hail from south of the border.

Drawing the eye of publishers is no mean feat, but with 70,000 page views a month, Minaki’s successful kalofagas.ca blog is difficult to ignore.

Built upon an encyclopaedic knowledge of Greek and Mediterranean food and a deft hand in crafting these traditional dishes, Minaki has built up a steadily-growing fan base at his monthly Greek supper clubs. Peter has helmed events locally in Toronto as well as sold out dinners in Buffalo and NYC, New York.

His recipes have been reprinted in publications across the globe spanning as far as Australia, and for the first time since he undertook his culinary adventure over two decades years ago, his many creations (both new and time-honoured) will be compiled as a single beautifully laid out work.

Regular visitors to his blog will have noted that whilst his speciality lies in Greek food, vast amounts of his cooking are based on olive oil, sunshine and the Mediterranean diet.

“Everything Mediterranean” (2nd Edition) will feature Peter’s original photographs, while the 300-plus recipes have all been painstakingly (and deliciously) verified.

Favourite dishes spanning from appetizers to desserts have been included, both traditional and contemporary. Imagine starting your brunch off with a baklava French toast, mastering that roast leg of lamb like only Mediterraneans can or finishing your sun-kissed menu off with a feta cheesecake!

“Everything Mediterranean” (2nd Edition) is on US and Canadian bookshelves (and virtual stores for eBooks) and will hit Amazon on November 18th (pre-orders available now) – in time for most Christmas lists.
