BA4FD768A12848D5E0DDA6000835F5CCThe President of the Parliament, Evangelos Meimarakis, is to visit Canada from May 27 to June 1, in order to reciprocate the visits of Canada’s Speaker and Senate president to Greece.

This visit provides an excellent opportunity not only to reaffirm the historical ties of friendship between the two countries, but to  strengthen their relationship and enhance their cooperation in various fields as well.

Meimarakis seems to really draw his attention to Hellenism in Canada, which stands as a pipeline of communication and preservation of the values and ideals of the two peoples. For this reason, he is expected to have a series of meetings with representatives of the Diaspora.

During his visit, the President of the Greek Parliament is to meet in the capital, Ottawa, with the Speaker of the House of Commons Andrew Scheer, the Honorable Noel Kinsella, Speaker of the Senate of Canada, as well as with the President and members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group between Greece and Canada.

Meimarakis will also have meetings with the Speakers and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in Toronto and the National Assembly of Quebec in Quebec City. He will also meet with the Diaspora in the cities of Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto, and will speak at an event organized for the donors of the Chair in Modern Greek Studies at the University of McGill, in Montreal.

Furthermore, he is to meet with Metropolitan Sotirios of Canada in Toronto.
