Quebec Honors Nana Mouskouri

nana mouskouriOn May 28, celebrated Greek singer Nana Mouskouri, who lives in Switzerland, is scheduled to receive the National Honor of Quebec from the Premier of the  city, Pauline Marois, for humanitarian work as well as her  career. Mouskouri is an ardent child rights activist who has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 1993.

Two days later, on May 30, McGill University in Montreal will confer the degree of Faculty of Arts on Mouskouri for her 50 year career in singing.

On May 31, the faculty of Modern Greek Studies Phrixos Papachristidis from McGill University will host a dinner in honor of the Greek singer, who won international acclaim with her ​​voice and humanity. The proceeds of the evening will be for the support of the faculty.

Mouskouri is also going to announce her Happy Birthday Tour that will start from Athens on her birthday on Oct, 13 and will include many cities in Canada, among them Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa.

  1. Nana deserves these honors so very much! In my opinion, she is the greatest living female singer.

  2. Very happy to hear that Ms Mouskouri is being honoured in this way. Note, however, that Faculty of Arts is not a degree, but rather the sector of the university that is conferring the degree of honorary doctorate (more specifically, Doctor of Letters, honoris causa).
