gffw_photoA week-long photo exhibition and related events will take place in Toronto, Canada from May 10-18. The exhibition organized by the Greek America Foundation will feature works from photographers of Greek descent from North America and is hosted in conjunction with the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival, one of the largest photography festivals in the world. The photo exhibition will be hosted at one of Toronto’s most unique event spaces, The Burroughes.

This year’s participants will be Eleni Bakopoulos, the famous photographer from Toronto, Anastasios Mentis, who works as an interior photographer in New York, and the talented young photographer Alexis Papalexopoulos from Los Angeles, along with many well-known Greek- Canadian photographers.

Legendary photographer Costantionos Manos’ exhibition with photos taken during the filming of the movie America America by Elia Kazan in 1963, in Greece, will form a special section.

During the exhibition short films by Greek directors will be screened. These short films which have Greece as their main theme will take part in the competition, and those awarded will be presented at the next festival in Hollywood.

The film Dichotomus by Philippos Balabanos about Golden Dawn will be screened at the festival, but it will not take part in the competition.
