Greeks living in Canada celebrated Christmas in snowy, yet sunny weather. Last week’s snow left the edges of the roads and trees clad in white, while ski resorts near Montreal offered traditional Christmas holidays.
The peak of Christianity was gloriously celebrated by Greeks in Canada. In several churches in Montreal and Toronto the Christmas mass was held at night with traditional Orthodox rituals.
In other churches, Christmas mass was held on the Day of Nativity, attracting thousands of Greek Orthodox, who came from around Canada to participate in the huge event.
His Eminence Metropolitan of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto, Sotirios, in his Christmas encyclical referred to the plight of refugees, during increasing racist attacks in Greece.
