The Metropolis of Canada launched a fundraising campaign for needy people in Greece and is now sending $25,000 to help people in the debt-plagued country.
In particular, the money will be used for meals offered by the churches of Athens and Thessaloniki to the needy.
The fundraising campaign is ongoing, and the metropolitan of Canada, Soterios, is making appeals to the Philoptochos Societies, Greek Orthodox Communities and Greek organizations for joining this social attempt.
The amount that will be raised will be directly sent to the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church.
