This week the Hellenic Heritage Foundation (HHF) met with leaders from the Hellenic Communities of Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver, as part of the HHF’s new initiative to connect and unite Greeks across Canada.
The goal behind HHFs initiative is for Greek communities across the nation to familiarize themselves with each other so as to determine what needs or challenges they may be facing, and in turn establish whether everyone can collaborate and/or help and support one another.
Together with the Ambassador of Greece to Canada, H.E. Dimitris Azemopoulos, HHF President Tony Lourakis, Board Member Parthena Keroglidis and Managing Director George Keroglidis, the Western Canada Road Trip began.
On June 12, HHF met with members of the Hellenic Community of Calgary and on June 13, an engaging an insightful meeting was held with the Hellenic Community of Edmonton.
Finally, on June 14, with an incredible turnout, an amazing end to the Western Canada Road trip took place at the Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver.
Representatives from all three Hellenic Communities of Greater Vancouver that share HHFs passion and mission to promote, preserve and advance Hellenic language heritage and culture in Canada, had the chance to discuss their challenges and future opportunities.
Together with all of Western Canada’s Greek communities, the HHF will continue to promote Hellenism throughout the nation.
