Voula Patoulidou is invited to Toronto by the Greek Community and the Organizing Committee of the 2016 Greek-Canadian Games. The former athlete and Thessaloniki’s Regional Governor, will be in Toronto between May 25 and June 1.

Patoulidou was invited by Toronto’s Greek Community President, Antonis Artemakis and the President of the Organizing committee of the 2016 Greek-Canadian Games, Dr. Fotis Karantonis. On Saturday May 28, Patoulidou will inaugurate the commencement of the Greek-Canadian Games at the Bill Crothers Secondary School in Markham.

The Greek-Canadian Games is a non-profit initiative by the Games’ Organizing Committee, however, the Greek expatriates aspire to turn it into an annual institution all over Canada. “Our goal is to embrace all new Greek-Canadian generations by creating a big athletic event, and reviving with every opportunity the ancient Olympic Games spirit,” Greek-Canadian expatriate media mention.

About 300 children, aged between 7 and 14 years old will participate in the games. Participants will have the opportunity to partake in a variety of individual and team sports, such as track events, field events, ball hockey, basketball and soccer.
