Pontiac residents of Toronto and the entire Greek community of the US and Canada are starting to support the largest educational project for learning the Pontian dialect.

According to the Brothrehood, the first scholarship on the history of the “Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus”, was given to the history-ignorant, uneducated and uncultured Education Minister of Greece, Mr. Nikos Filis. Albeit, this was said jokeingly on a Skai television broadcast by the President of the Pontian Brotherhood.

The president was referring to Filis’ previous comments that he doesn’t recognize the Pontian genocide by the Turks and he calls it ethnic cleansing. Pontian organizations around the world protested the comment, calling it a disrespect to the 350,000 Pontians slaughtered by the Kemalist regime in the early 20th century.
