Margaret Atwood Honoured by Athens University

AtwoodThe famous Canadian novelist Margaret Atwood will be presented with an Honorary Doctorate degree given by the Department of English Language and Literature of Athens University, at a special ceremony on December 9. The ceremony will take place at the Greek Consulate in Toronto in the presence of the Greek ambassador, Eleftherios Aggelopoulos.

The ambassador of Canada to Greece, Robert Peck, welcoming the decision of Athens University Senate, said: “Margaret Atwood is one of the most famous writers in Canada as well as in Greece. Along with the celebrating 70 years of an official diplomatic relationship between Greece and Canada, we celebrate this honour.”

Athens University was founded by the Centre of Canadian Studies, which promotes Canadian literature in Greece.
