Greek Crisis at the Center of 2013 NHSA Convention

NHSAThe National Hellenic Student Association of America (NHSA), in cooperation with the Greek student associations of McGill and Concordia Universities in Montreal, Quebec Canada, are organizing their Fall 2013 convention to take place in Montreal on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of October. The theme for the conference, “The Human Face of Crisis: Economy and Politics,” will seek to explore the very human aspect of the economic crisis and its effects on the day-to-day lives of the people of Greece.

The NHSA of America is the network of the Hellenic Student Associations across the United States. By linking all the Greek, Greek-American and Cypriot students of the American educational institutions this organization promotes ideas and projects that enrich the Hellenic spirit on campuses nationwide. NHSA of America includes students of Greek origin coming from 43 different universities of the USA and Canada such as: Harvard, Brown; Cornell; Columbia; Stanford; University of Pennsylvania; UC Berkley; University of Toronto; York University; Concordia University; McGill University; Boston University; Northeastern; Northwestern; Duke; University of Chicago, Drexel, to name a few.

On the first day of the convention, on Sunday the 23rd, Othon Alexandrakis, assistant professor of Anthropology at York University will be the main speaker, while the Greek Ambassador to Canada, Eleftherios Aggelopoulos and the Consul General of Greece in Montreal Thanos Kafopoulos will address greetings.
