Avramopoulos in Canada to Woo Investors

On Oct.30, Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos will meet with his Canadian counterpart John Baird, along with Greek Diaspora entrepreneurs in Canada. Avramopoulos will be accompanied by Greece’s Deputy Minister of Development Notis Mitarachis and an investor group as well.

Avramopoulos will attend an economic forum in Montreal, concentrated on the investment interest of Canadian companies in Greece.

On Nov.1, Avramopoulos will visit Ottawa, where he will meet with Baird, to talk about the agenda of  Greek-Canadian relations. The next day  Avramopoulos will attend an economic forum in Toronto organized by the Canadian bank RBC, where he will meet more Diaspora entrepreneurs and Canadian investors.

    Mr. Avramopoulos, investment needs flexible and attractive policies and not the present policies you have. Investors won’t invest in a country without a proper political agenda. Investors won’t invest in a corrupt country like Greece. Investors won’t invest in a country where for each document they need 3 or 5 signatures, 15 stamps and the person in charge is not here today or come next week to receive the document. Bureaucracy in Greece is killing the country and its development. The system needs changes and policies need to be relaxed for investors to feel safe and invest their millions otherwise they will look to another place…
