Three Greek Movies at the 35th International Film Festival in Montreal

The 35th Montreal International Film Festival opens with the participation of three films of Greek co-production.
The short film “A Perfect Day” by director Evris Papanikolas tells the story of a meeting of three odd couples at a gas station, two boys travelling in a stolen boat, two drunk women, and two police officers who make virtual war with their arms, waiting to wash their cars.
Papanikolas originates from Egypt and comes from the world of commercials. The screening of the film will be 24, 25 and 26 August in various venues of the festival.
The film “Amnesty” is a Greek-French-Albanian production from Bujar Alimanim 90 Productions / Patos (Albanie), Thanos Anastopoulos, Fantasia Ltd., Guillau. The director of the film is Albanian Bujar Alimani and photography director is Elias Adamis. Starring: Luli Bitri, Aktori Karafil Shena, Todi Llupi, Mirela Naska, Aleksander Rrapi,  the story revolves around the prison in Tirana, where a new law has passed allowing sex to emprisoned married couples.
 Elsa travels once a month by bus to visit her husband who is emprisoned for illegal betting. Sfetim makes the same trip  as his wife is behind bars, too. Elsa and Sfetim meet, fall in love and console each other for the absence of their partners. Until one day their spouses are released from prison.
The film will be screened on August 19,20,23,27.
The Greek Cypriot production ”FISH N ‘CHIPS”, from director Elias Dimitriou, with producers Monica Nicolaides, George Pantzis, Constantine Moriatis, Elias Dimitriou etc shows particular interest. Director of photography is George Giannelis, while starring MariosIoannou, Marlene Kaminski, Anne Marie O’ Sullivan, Diomedes Koufteros and Alkistis Pavlidis.
Andie, a hardworking cook in a fast food restaurant in London, is dismissed and decides to return to Cyprus with his mother, his girlfriend Karen and her daughter to open a fast food restaurant ”Fish n Chips”. The fast food restaurant fails because things do not work in Cyprus as in London. Andie is left alone finding himself as a tourist in his own country.
The film will be screened in the Festival Halls on 23,24,25,26 August.
