49 Different Types of Feta Recorded by Canadian Centre of Dairy Products

In Canada, consumers do not have a clear image of feta. That is because they eat low fat white cheese, mostly from cow milk, labeled as feta. According to the report of the Ottawa ISD (January 2011), the Canadian Centre of Dairy Products has recorded 49 different “feta style” products. These cheeses are produced in Bulgaria, FYROM, and Canada. According to the ISD office, the current law regime in Canada allows the trade of such products. Greece wants to protect feta, within the scope of the under discussion total agreement of free trade between E.U. – Canada, which is expected to complete this year.
